The Ruvuma Energy founding consortium — Viability Gap Plc, N-Gas Ltd, and GEFCO Invest Norway — held formal discussions with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) on development finance cooperation, technical assistance, and SDG-aligned infrastructure investment for the Ruvuma Regional LNG & Industrial Platform.
Discussions covered JICA's infrastructure financing programmes, potential technical cooperation for LNG and industrial park development, and alignment with Japan's Africa strategy. Ruvuma Energy hosted a comprehensive stakeholder consultation at the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) headquarters, bringing together TPA leadership, TANESCO representatives, Ministry of Energy officials, and the Ruvuma Energy technical team to advance the marine export jetty and port integration framework.
The Ruvuma Energy consortium conducted a detailed site inspection of Mahurunga Village (-10.5190°, 40.2398°), the confirmed anchor location for the Ruvuma Regional LNG & Industrial Platform. The site visit confirmed the suitability of the location for co-siting SPV1, SPV2, and SPV3 infrastructure.
Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) has issued an engagement letter confirming its intent to act as co-lead development finance institution for the Ruvuma Energy platform. AFC will co-lead the DFI financing coalition alongside AfDB, targeting SPV1 and SPV2 senior debt at the HoldCo level.
Samsung E&A and the Ruvuma Energy project team have agreed the Basis of Design (BoD) for the SPV2 LNG Liquefaction Complex. The BoD establishes the technical foundation for the FEED and subsequent EPC contract for the 4.1 MTPA, three-train liquefaction facility.
Negotiations with ENH (Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos), Mozambique's national hydrocarbons company, for the Gas Supply Agreement covering 280 MMSCFD from Area 1 Rovuma Basin are in advanced finalisation. ENH has provided conditional approval for the supply arrangement.
